Taking a Seat to Stand Up for Freedom

On February 1, 1960 four local college students took a stand for freedom by sitting down at at whites-only lunch counter in a Downtown Greensboro Woolworth's. That brave act led to many others in Greensboro and across the country, eventually integrating lunch counters nationwide. Today a museum commemorates their act and many others that advance civil and human rights. CEO of the International Civil Rights Center and Museum, John Swaine joined us in the President's Corner.
